Last Thursday my mom came for a visit. Keilan and I have been "X"ing off the days of December with great anticipation of many exciting events; Nana's visit, Grandpa and Grandma's visit, Christmas Day, Joel's birthday. So he was really excited to see her when she flew in.
We had such a nice visit. Caleb seemed quite comfortable with her so I was able to do some things without my kids...grocery shopping!!!!!...ahhh, I'd kind of forgotten how lovely it is to shop alone!
My mom even kept both boys on Sunday evening so I could go to the dinner theatre. I wish I could tell you that Caleb took the bottle from her, but of course he didn't.
Oh well, I will continue that battle!
Saturday morning we had a lovely Christmas brunch and opened gifts. I was a little worried that Keilan would get all "gift-crazy" but he did really well. He was quite excited to watch...oh wait, HELP...the rest of us open our gifts. The gifts we received are wonderful and we are grateful for them.
Sunday we had Caleb's dedication at Redwood. Doug had some touching and challenging words for us and prayed a blessing on Caleb and us. There are many days I feel overwhelmed with the task of raising two warriors, but know that I am not alone. The One who created them and knows them best is walking with me.
So, it was a lovely weekend. Visits with family always go by too quickly. Time and distance separate us, but the bond that ties us is greater.
